STATEMENT
Cristina Biaggi, Ph.D., has achieved international recognition for her varied and significant contributions to the field of Goddess-centered art and scholarly studies. Her works are a reflection and an extension of her lifelong interest in the classics, art and art history, archaeology, literature, and languages, acquired at Vassar, Harvard and New York University.
When she isn't preparing new pieces for an exhibition, Dr. Biaggi is writing, lecturing, working with the Children's Shakespeare Theatre of Palisades, New York, and also spending time with her teenage twin sons and their four dachshunds. She is recently earned her Black Sash in Kung Fu and teaches Tae Kwon Do as a 4th Degree Black Belt. Her third published book, The Rule of Mars: Readings on the Origins, History and Impact of Patriarchy , made its debut in 2006 with Choice Magazine giving it high marks. In 2005, she lectured on " The Dark Goddess: She Who is Now Appearing in the Forefront " at the Goddess Conversations conference in Ephesus, Turkey, exhibited an installation piece at Bex + Arts Sculpture Park in Switzerland, worked on a new book, and created four giant collages for an exhibit at New York City's Ceres Gallery. Entitled " Disasters ," three of her pieces were passionately inspired by what she considers major catastrophes of our current times – the American presidential election of 2004, the Tsunami of Southeast Asia, and hurricane Katrina. “The Have-nots” was an expression of her outrage at the Bush administration's treatment of the hurricane victims.
