STATEMENT
My art has evolved from a representation of what I think about a subject to a courageous examination of how I feel about it. While still a form of realism, it is now on a deeper, subjective, and expressionistic level where edges are harder and colors rawer and more intense. Fiber remains my medium of choice because its tactile qualities allow it to be molded into almost any form with soft inviting surfaces or intense reflective ones, just like emotions. You may or may not share my feelings. But if my art leads you down your own mental journey, it’s a success because it has most certainly led me down mine. The journey continues.

BIOGRAPHY
Jayne Gaskins’ work has been exhibited in galleries and museums throughout the US, Europe, Asia, and Australia, and has earned numerous awards. Her art is in both private and museum collections and has been shown in prestigious exhibits such as Xe Triennale Internationale des Mini-Textiles (France), Quilt National, and FiberArt International. It has also been published in books such as Art Quilts Unfolding – 50 Years of Innovation, The Natural World: Profiles of Major Artists Galleries, and Exploring Art Quilts, Vol 2, where it appeared on the cover accompanied by a feature article.
Gaskins holds a BFA in Graphic Design and an MBA with a concentration in Marketing and Management. She also completed an artist residency in Noyers, France, and is a Juried Artist Member in Studio Art Quilt Associates where she previously served on the board of directors. In 2006 she retired from a long successful career in communications and has since allowed her imagination to take her to places she never knew existed. The journey continues.
