STATEMENT

Carole Kulikowski is a figurative painter and author of the novels, THE SUMMER OF THE ROSENKAVALIER, THE DE-CONSTRUCTION OF MS. AMERICA, and CRY SANCTUARY. Her creative practice is intertwined with her work as a novelist, where she explores similar themes of resilience and the human experience. There are several paintings in the SUMMER HAT SERIES, WOMAN ALONE SERIES, and WINTER HAT SERIES. The CRY SANCTUARY painting is the book cover for the novel. The FASHIONABLE TWENTIETH CENTURY MOVEMENTS SERIES are ten paintings that cover women’s fashion and art movements for each decade of the twentieth century, FAUVISM, CUBISM, CONSTRUCTIVISM, SURREALISM, ABSTRACT EXPRESSIONISM, COLOR FIELD PAINTING, OP/POP, MINIMALISM, NEO-EXPRESSIONISM, and MULTICULTURALISM. Women’s fashion and art movements may go out of fashion, but woman as icon will not.
