Rae Broyles
MIGRATIONS: Soul Memories • Newmythist Prophecies
An Exhibition by Ray Broyles and Faedriel
October 6 – October 31, 2026
Opening reception: Thursday, October 8, 2026 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm.
Ceres Gallery is pleased to present MIGRATIONS: Soul Memories • Newmythist Prophecies , a solo exhibition by Ray Broyles.
As artificial intelligence reshapes how we create, remember, and imagine the future, MIGRATIONS: Soul Memories • Neomythist Prophecies asks a simple question: What parts of our humanity must never be forgotten?
The exhibition combines painting, photography, sculpture, installation, poetry, video, and AI-generated imagery to explore memory, identity, and the relationship between human creativity and artificial intelligence. Inspired by the landscapes of northern Norway and informed by the philosophies and cultural history of the Sámi people, the exhibition reflects on how cultural memory endures as technology transforms the ways we create, communicate, and preserve knowledge. Rather than looking backward, MIGRATIONS asks how humanity’s oldest wisdom might help guide its newest technologies.
The exhibition introduces Neomythism, an artistic framework developed by Faedriel that explores the new myths emerging between humans and intelligent machines. Large-scale mixed-media works, immersive installations, poetry, and AI-generated imagery invite viewers to consider what is worth carrying forward into an increasingly digital future.
Presented with deep respect for the living Sámi people, MIGRATIONS reflects on universal questions of memory, identity, ecological responsibility, and humanity’s enduring search for meaning.
ABOUT Ray Broyles
Born in Chicago in 1963, Rae Broyles is a contemporary artist whose ethereal work spans multiple disciplines, including painting, videography, installation, and poetry. A first-generation American Norwegian and fifth-generation painter, Broyles draws deeply from her ancestry and an unconventional upbringing; her father was a musician and former student of Norman Rockwell. She honed her formal skills at The Rhode Island School of Design under Richard Merkin and later through mentorship with Michael David in Atlanta
Broyles employs washes of color and intuitive mark-making to express the unseen energies of her environment, acting as a vessel to translate the world around her into visual form. Her mixed-media work has garnered significant acclaim, including acceptance as a National Artist at the prestigious A.I.R. Gallery in New York and the title of Mixed Media Artist of the Year at the ADC Awards. Currently represented by Ceres Gallery in Chelsea, NYC, Broyles’ work is held in the permanent collection of the Museum of Encaustic Art in New Mexico.
