Christine Mottau

This series of oil paintings is about chakra theory based meditation. Each piece is based on a specific meditation and its focus on balancing a specific chakra. The connection between color, light and creativity is inherent in chakra theory and spiritual realization. In these recent works, I have been interested in creating form and atmosphere by using a multi layered glazing technique of translucent color. These paintings have all been done from 2022 through 2023

I have had a meditation practice for 32 years.

Christine Mottau has exhibited regularly in solo and group exhibitions in American galleries since the 1980s. Living and working In New York City and Spencertown, NY, she was educated at the Art Institute of Boston and the Museum School of Fine Arts in Boston, Massachusetts. Her work is represented by Ceres Gallery, where she has shown her paintings, drawings and paper sculptures in both solo and group shows.
