CERES APPLICATION INFORMATION
Dear Artist,
We are pleased to invite you to apply for membership in Ceres, a non-profit alternative cultural center dedicated to promoting women in the arts. The gallery consists of two exhibition spaces: a main gallery for Full and National Full Members and an adjoining gallery for Affiliate and National Affiliate Members. The privileges and obligations of each membership category are outlined below:
Full Membership Full Members are responsible for monthly dues of $250 and a non-refundable initiation fee of $600 upon entering the gallery. Full Members exhibit in the Gallery I and are included in group and invitational shows. Full Members are also required to attend monthly meetings and perform an ongoing gallery task. Each Full Member is required to work as a gallery sitter twelve times a year – or – to pay $60 in lieu of each sitting. Full Members have full voting privileges.
National Full Membership National Full Members are responsible for monthly dues of $340 and a non-refundable initiation fee of $600 upon entering the gallery. National Full Members are included in group and invitational shows. They are not required to attend monthly meetings or perform an ongoing gallery task and their monthly dues include payment of sitters to staff the gallery. They receive minutes of meetings and can vote for officers, new members and by-law changes only if they consistently attend meetings.
Affiliate Membership Affiliate Members are responsible for monthly dues of $150 and a non-refundable initiation fee of $400 upon entering the gallery. Affiliate Members exhibit in Gallery II and are included in group and invitational shows. Affiliate Members are also required to attend monthly meetings and perform an ongoing gallery task critical to the running of the gallery. Affiliate Members are required to be gallery sitter six times a year –or- to pay $60 in lieu of each sitting (or $30 per month). Affiliates receive minutes of meetings and can vote for officers, new members and by-law changes.
National Affiliate Membership National Affiliate Members are responsible for monthly dues of $200 and a non-refundable initiation fee of $400 upon entering the gallery. National Affilate members exhibit in Gallery II and are included in group and invitational shows. They are not required to attend monthly meetings or perform an ongoing gallery task and their monthly dues include payment of sitters to staff the gallery. They receive minutes of meetings and can vote for officers, new members and by-law changes only if they consistently attend meetings.
The solo exhibition cycle ranges from 24 to 36 months. Each member is entitled to a four-week solo exhibition during that time. Every member is entitled to participate in the Annual Group Show each year in which they do not have a solo exhibition.
All members are responsible for 3 additional assessments per year: $100 for Gallery Refurbishment, $50 for the Annual Brochure and $200 for our participation on the Artsy website.

Application for Membership
The following materials must be included with this application whether via email or snail mail:
10 images of your work on a CD, thumb drive, or email attachments
AND/OR a link to your work on your website
AND a full, numbered, image list, containing title, materials, size and date of each piece.
It is important to include good, clear images which accurately represent your work. If your works are performance or installation pieces for which no images exist, please send detailed scripts, copies or planning sketches. If you are applying online, it is recommended that you confirm receipt of your email. Work is viewed once each month on the first Wednesday evening. ALSO:
- Artist’s statement, not to exceed one page in length
- Artist resume or CV
- Self addressed stamped envelope for return of materials, if applicable
- Any reviews or other promotional materials you feel will help Ceres make a final determination
CERES WILL NOT BE RESPONSIBLE FOR SUBMITTED MATERIALS. DO NOT SEND ORIGINAL WORK WITH YOUR APPLICATION. Ceres may request original work after the first viewing of your images.
